The Pilates In Motion certification program is a 200-hour program including workshop hours, class hours, observation hours, private and personal practice hours, and practice teaching hours.  The program will start in January, 2011.

Objectives of the Pilates In Motion Certification Program

  • Be able to apply the Pilates principles of core, stability, breathing, and alignment to all exercises.
  • To be able to understand, perform, and teach a break down of all Pilates exercises.
  • To have the practical knowledge of how the muscles in the body are used and affected during Pilates, and how they properly initiate each movement.
  • Knowledge and implementation of modifications for specific body types.
  • Comprehension and use of how cues (verbal, hands-on, and observation) while instructing.

  • 2 Letters of References

  • Medical History Form
  • Release and Liability Forms
  • An interview with instructors at Pilates In Motion.

Tuition and Fees

To reserve your space and get a discount on classes, $425 is to be paid by November, 2010.  If you do not pay by this date, you are not guaranteed a space in the certification program and are not eligible for Pilates mat class and private class discounts.

What Does Tuition Include?

  • One weekend a month of training.
  • Free studio time at Pilates In Motion of Chattanooga.
  • One free mat class a week at Pilates In Motion of Chattanooga.
  • Observation hours at Pilates In Motion of Chattanooga
  • Use of studio and equipment at Pilates In Motion of Chattanooga for practice teaching.
  • Reduced rate of mat classes ($5/ea) and private classes ($30/hr).
  • Tuition DOES NOT include manuals and other required materials listed below.

Other certification program requirements

  • Classes must be attended at Pilates In Motion.
  • Private, duet, or trio sessions (included in the Private and Personal Practice hours) must occur two times per month.
  • After completion of each module, the student will be observed practice teaching with a client.
  • Attendance is required for all workshops.
  • Students will receive a list of exercises to be covered for each workshop, and students will be required to know the choreography of each exercise and be able to perform them before attending the workshop.
  • During workshops, students will practice and teach each exercise on each other.
  • Test out with instructor and Ann Law is required for certification.
  • For national accreditation, the Pilates Method Alliance exam will be taken. 
  • At the completion of each module a practice test (oral, written, or demonstration of exercises) will be given.
